The Associate director of clinical education, under the supervision of the director of clinical education, will serve as a core faculty member and role model to the PA students. Will be responsible for the entire functioning of the clinical year beginning with the development of curriculum and clinical policies, to the monitoring of clinical sites, and grading of student efforts.
THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION LOCATED IN ST. CROIX, VI
Responsibilities:
Oversee the clinical coordinator to ensure that:
Student information and initial student schedules are entered into Typhon.
Rotation planning is facilitated through communication with sites and preceptors.
Each PA student is scheduled in the clinical rotations necessary for completion of his or her clinical training.
Schedules and records of clinical student assignments are accurate (including the paper schedule, the rotation plotting grid on the N drive and Typhon).
Scheduling questions are answered for sites, preceptors and students.
Confirmation statements are produced and distributed to students and sites prior to student arrival.
Clinical student files are organized and maintained (including electronic files).
End of rotation activities are planned and organized. Serve as a core faculty member. Develop initial clinical grid schedule for each clinical cycle to ensure efficient use of clinical resources. Draw on personal PA training, clinical experience and knowledge of student abilities to facilitate appropriate clinical assignments of students. Participate in writing and revising clinical policy. Document and report student concerns, complaints and incident reports to the Director of Clinical Education.
Oversee student and preceptor site visits by:
Site visit students and established preceptors to evaluate clinical education.
Visit established sites to assess satisfaction with student preparation/ performance and maintain/ improve administrative relationships.
Schedule and track faculty site visits
Plan and oversee End of Rotation Activities by:
Supervise and attend end of rotation activities. Serve as CPAST proctor.
Grade preceptor evaluations, SOAP notes and cultural reflection papers.
Serve as back-up lecturer for EOR activities
Develop a clinical curriculum which includes:
Planning EOR topics/ activities
Evaluating EOR exams to ensure that written objectives are reflected.
Contribute to the clinical testing bank as an item writer.
Maintain clinical expertise and familiarity with current PA training and utilization issues through engagement in conferences and professional meetings.
Serve as a mentor and role model for PA students.
Qualifications:
