Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for assisting with the design and development of computer based learning and other multimedia-based learning activities.  This includes the development of various course features including animations and interactive content. The Instructional Designer works under specific deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment that demands quality, creativity, and consistency.  The mission of the Instructional Designer is to develop courses that engage and excite learners with dynamic interactions.

Scope and Complexity:

This position requires a great degree of flexibility.  The Instructional Designer will be expected to work with directors, subject matter experts, external consultants, and others.  The Instructional Designer must be able to effectively communicate with individuals familiar with design and implementation as well as those that are not.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Develops interactions, animations, graphics, scenarios and other eLearning tools as needed
  • Assists Center for Learning team members in various course design tasks including: course development, incorporation of interactivity, and assessments
  • Ensures testing and quality assurance are complete and prior to release to the client
  • Collaborates with the Instructional Design team to best leverage the skills and talents of the group to produce high-quality, engaging eLearning
  • Offers consultative services to the client in regards to available interactivity, games, animations and other instructional design offerings

 


Skills Required

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Instructional Design or a related field
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience working in design and development of learning applications
  • Building applications: Demonstrated ability to independently build applications
  • Technical Skill in Various Software: Demonstrated technical skills in various software applications, including: HTML editing, Microsoft Office applications, video and audio recording and Photoshop
  • Design and Development Software: Experience and familiarity with various computer-based design and development software, including: Presenter, Camtasia, Lectora, Flash, DreamWeaver, NexLearn
  • Adult Learning Theory and ADDIE: Familiarity with adult learning theories and the ADDIE model of design. Ability to adhere to and implement instructional design best practices

 Core Competencies:

·         Problem Solving: Ability to think critically about an issue and deliver multiple solutions

·         Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team. Collaboration is essential for this role.
