Job Summary:
The Executive Director, Clinical Excellence will direct the learning and education strategic plans in support of a healthcare client’s corporate university goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include developing and managing clinical curriculum and programs in support of stakeholder development, clinical competencies and clinical information systems. The Executive Director will set direction for enterprise-wide educational initiatives for all clinical areas; provide direction to the Clinical Learning & Development Manager and core corporate university team and capture, maintain and transfer knowledge across multiple sites within our client’s enterprise.
Scope and Complexity:
Reporting to the Chief Learning Officer, the Executive Director, Clinical Excellence will have a key leadership role within ICMC and its primary healthcare client and will work in conjunction with the operational leaders at the client sites to ensure that educational development programs and initiatives and delivery methods are connected to the business and support the organization’s strategy.
Responsibilities:
Develop learning and education strategic plans in support of the healthcare client’s corporate university goals and objectives
Provide direction to the Learning & Development Manager, Clinical Excellence and the core team for the corporate university toward developing and managing curriculum and programs in support of management and stakeholder development, clinical competencies and clinical information systems
Working with the learning management system (LMS) administrator, oversee implementation and maintenance of the on-line LMS
Take ownership and build upon the current training infrastructure with the support of the healthcare client’s education departments in a hands-on team oriented environment
Work with clinical senior managers and executives from the healthcare facilities to set direction for enterprise-wide educational initiatives for all clinical areas
Responsible for collaborating in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of individual curricula and clinical educational initiatives through the use of technology based and team based training and assessment
Develop and maintain certification and assessment processes that monitor and evaluate performance skills based on outcomes tied to organizational effectiveness
Oversee the corporate university’s Clinical Excellence team, including the Learning and Development Manager, responsible for the design, development and delivery of effective learning programs
Determine appropriate blend of traditional learning approaches with existing and new technologies in order to create and deliver best in class learning programs
Track statistics and create additional learning and performance metrics as required
Evaluate learning programs and effectiveness through the collection of data and feedback
Skills Required
Skills & Experience:
PhD or Master's degree in a Healthcare discipline, Adult Education, Instructional Technology or a related field preferred.
Due to the clinical nature of the position, strong consideration will be given to candidates with a clinical background at the level of an advanced practice nurse with appropriate experience in staff and/or patient education. (RN, BSN, MSN or MD Preferred).
Ten years of relevant educational experience with adult learners also required.
Five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience required including relevant supervisory roles. Superb analytical, strategic planning, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills necessary, including platform and presentation experience.
Master’s degree in Organization Development, Business, Communications or closely related field or equivalent amount of working experience will be considered.
Strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to manage complex projects utilizing both internal and external resources to ensure that programs are developed within established timelines and quality standards;
Provide direction to the Learning and Development Manager to administer the learning management systems and develop monthly reports on training activities for executive management.
Operational oversight of development and delivery of multiple types of learning, including traditional classroom, online self-study, and online instructor led (virtual classroom).
