Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manages and oversees patient services activities through planning and organizing of administrative and clinical functions; Manages, coordinates, assigns, and schedules work activities of subordinates to ensure proper operation of department; Reviews, evaluates, and monitors work schedules, work flow and duty assignment of personnel to ensure proper coverage; Assists Director in preparing and maintaining annual budget and identify budget needs with in Department; Assist Director in compiling and maintaining accurate Financial Report for Department; In the absences of the Food Service Director, the position is assumed by the Head Dietitian/Patient Services; Ensures that department is represented on related hospital clinical committees (i.e. Dialysis care planning, discharge planning, performance improvement, patient safety committee, etc.); Submits monthly Performance Improvement reports; Oversees and reports the data collection for performance improvement indicators and implements recommendation for improvement; Adheres to Nutrition Services Department Clinical/Non Clinical Policies and Procedures in accordance with Juan F. Luis Hospital and Joint Commission Standards or any other regulatory agency; Ensures the maintenance quality improvement measures i.e. tray accuracy audits, text trays, meals round, pre-service checklist, temperature logs are within compliance; Completes nutrition assessments, follow-up and education for acute care patients; Provide in-service and education to hourly staff and hospital staff (as needed); Manages the planning of nutrition education in the community; Completes monthly Patient Services reports which includes but is not limited to clinical productivity reports; Supervises immediate subordinates: Dietitians, Diet Aids, Patient Services Food Service Workers, and Kitchen Attendants (as per the patient services organizational chart), also assist in the supervision of the entire department; Maintains registration status as mandated by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; Any other related duties assigned
Skills Required
ØBachelor of Science in Nutrition; ØCertified as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
ØPossess a valid V.I. Health Card
