Job Description:

 Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center is seeking a motivated, highly skilled individual who share our mission: to drive improvement in the health of those we serve, while exemplifying compassion and respect”, to oversee the Medical Staff.  The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the lead physician executive responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of clinical care throughout the hospital.  Working closely with the medical community and hospital leadership, this position plans, coordinates and oversees the medical affairs for the hospital consistent with the strategic plan.  The CMO also serves as the CEO’s chief advisor on clinical quality, safety and medical staff development.  General Duties & Responsibilities: §         Development and implementation of strategic priorities related to clinical integration, medical staff growth & development, clinical process improvement and outcome research.§         Development and implementation of programs that improve clinical quality and patient safety.§         Assists in the recruitment and retention of physicians, assists in application of credentialing, privileging and reapplication activities. §         Oversees the staffing and scheduling system for assigned units, according to the Policies and Procedures as directed.§         Supervises the provision of adequate staff for personnel for all shifts compilation and maintenance of the staffing schedules ands staffing forms. Refers to establish unit staffing patterns and acuity system to forecast minimum staffing requirements for short and long term staffing of each assigned area.§         Oversees the assigned units’ leadership and teams as they serve as patient advocate and clinical resources in the coordination and delivery of patient care; assures adherence to approved practices, procedures, and standard of care.§         Participates in organizational leadership through attendance at hospital committees and task forces; promotion of employees; job satisfaction and retention especially new graduate nurses.§         Identifies and communicates problems regarding ethical issues that may surface between professionals and patients. Demonstrates respect for the rights of patients and employees and sensitivity to comfort and privacy (confidentiality) of patients and employees. Acts as patient and employee advocate. Adapts approaches based on recognized cultural and religious diversity.§         Performs other duties as assigned.


Skills Required

Qualifications: Medical Degree required; a minimum of five years of experience as a practicing physician of which 3 years of experience in administration or supervision with evidence of continuing education directly related to the job specifications. Current USVI license. Six Sigma Greenbelt certified preferred. Current, ACLS, BLS, PALS, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (or related course) certification or evidence of continuing education toward requirements.Salary:   Commensurate with Experience.
