Job Description:
The Virgin Islands Public Broadcasting System has an immediate opening for a Production Technician II on the island of St. Thomas. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and set up of studio and remote production cameras, mixers, video tapes and digital editing and lighting equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: · Operate cameras, microphones, lights, chyron, prompter, video recorders, audio boards, and accessories during and in preparation for remote and studio broadcasts; - Perform lighting in the field and in studio without supervision;
- Adjust and monitor video and audio levels during productions and recordings;
- Perform Assistant Directing, Technical Directing and Directing duties;
- Edit long form programs, promos, and other video productions on the AVID or Final Cut Editing System; and
· Edit long and short form programs independently with minimal instructions from producers and/or production supervisors. Qualifications: · High School Diploma or equivalent; · Prior experience working in television broadcasting with audio mixers or editors; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job; · Three (3) years experience in operating studio and field audio/ visual equipment; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job; · Two (2) years of non-linear editing experience with a recognized editing software or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job; · Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; - Excellent organizational skills;
- Ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time;
- Ability to lift 30 pounds;
- Ability to carry hand held cameras during productions for 30 minutes;
- Ability to climb and descend from ladders and scaffolds;
- Ability to stand for 2-3 hours during productions; and
- Ability to drive trucks, vans and cars and must have a valid USVI Driver’s License.
