VIMSIA is proud to be the first International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP) Candidate School in the Virgin Islands (Grades 7 to 10). We are certified to offer the IB Diploma program (Grades 11 and 12). Your teaching curriculum will be based around the IB DP.
Skills Required
Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of subjects and grade levels. This position requires the candidate to be flexible and multifaceted. At least 1 year of teaching experience is preferred. An excellent track record of delivering quality learning is required. Previous IB experience is desirable but training will be provided to those who do not yet have IB experience.

ACCREDITATION
Virgin Islands Montessori School (VIMS) is accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) for the Primary - Upper Elementary levels. Dr. Maria Montessori founded AMI in 1929. The organization is directed by an international board, and is supported by distinguished scholars and statesmen throughout the world.
AMI/USA was founded to conduct the business of AMI in the United States. The yearly dues we pay go to the United States Office in Rochester, New York. A portion is sent to the International headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
AMI strictly regulates the standards to be met by member schools and teachers through their consultation program. They offer and run teacher-training programs, and organize national and international workshops and conferences. A team of specially trained consultants visits each school at least every three years. AMI is the reliable authority on authentic Montessori theory and practice, and since its inception, has been the coordinating agency of growth and development in Montessori. VIMSIA Toddler and After School Enrichment Program are accredited by the VI Department of Human Services.
VIMSIA is proud to be accredited for PK – 9th grade by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. We will be applying for accreditation for higher grades as we add older grades each year. We expect to offer a Middle-States accredited VIMSIA High School Diploma starting in August 2010.
VIMSIA is authorized as a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program and we have applied for authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program starting in August 2009.
