Job Description:
Malcolm Pirnie is seeking an Engineer/Scientist to be part of a team executing and developing remediation-related projects. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of or training in environmental regulations. This knowledge should include hazardous and solid waste, air, storm water, and wastewater. Responsibilities will include support of remediation projects including preparation of engineering calculations, participation in field investigations, evaluation of field and analytical data, preparation of reports, and interactions with clients and regulators.
Some field work and travel is required.
Field assignments may involve the following activities: ' Driving an automobile around the job site ' Walking over uneven ground, sometimes with wheelbarrows/carts ' Being outside in all seasons ' including inclement weather - hot or wet ' Standing/walking for long periods of time ' Leaning over/squatting to take samples ' Using an instrument to record/monitor conditions ' Working long shifts ' Observing/reading electronic monitoring equipment ' This may involve one person in the field at a time.
Must be self-motivated and capable of executing projects with guidance from senior staff. Applicant must have a strong technical background, and excellent computer and communication skills. Applicant must be functional with Microsoft applications (Access, Excel and Word) and web-based applications. EOE
Skills Required
Candidates should possess the following qualifications: - BS Civil / Environmental Engineer, Geology, Environmental Science, or related subjects - 0 to 4 years experience - Related experience, Internship or Co-Op experience a plus - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This will include the ability to convey and communicate technical material and information to clients and project team members effectively. - Individuals should have solid technical education with emphasis on remediation, hazardous waste, environmental engineering or science, geology, and/or contaminant hydrogeology.
