The iSeries System Administrator (ISA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.This individual is accountable for the following IBM OS systems such as iSeries (AS/400) systems on various levels of iSeries/Power System hardware that support the Enterprise infrastructure; may include Sun Solaris, Linux, Windows and other Application systems that support Telecom Management; Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.
Skills Required
Bachelors degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science;Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in iSeries/AS400/Power Systems and would prefer Microsoft and Sun Solaris knowledge;Four to six years system administration experience;Broad hands-on knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices;In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Linux, Unix, AS/400 and iSeries. In particular, working knowledge of latest releases of IBM i OS for iSeries/Power Systems;Would prefer working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including security standards, virtualization, and SQL databases (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle etc.);Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols;Hands-on experience with devices such as hubs, switches, and routers;Knowledge of applicable practices and laws relating to data privacy and protection.
