Associate ProducerThe Virgin Islands Public Television System has an immediate opening for an Associate Producer on the island of St. Thomas. The successful candidate will assist in developing programming for the System from beginning to end.The individual is also tasked with assisting in all elements of the pre-production, production and post-production of programs until air time.Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in coordinating and producing in-house shows, events, and programming;
Assist in planning and organizing the content of station programs, shows, guest lists and special features;
Work effectively with programming, production, and the operations team to assure smooth execution;
Assist the Producer in creating show ideas, story ideas, and preparing interview questions for shows and programming;
Assist in developing and delegating tasks to the production crew in the absence of the Production Supervisor or Producer; and provide constructive criticism and feedback to maintain smooth operation of station’s programming;
Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with production team, managers, operations staff, and other departments, as directed;
Complete accurate and timely traffic forms and keep accurate shot lists and complete all other required documents in relation to job;
Assist in planning program format and research, scripts and maintain production records;
Book catering, accommodations, equipment and flights as per supervisor’s directive;
Make contact with guests and inform them of station’s policies;
Obtain signed release forms from on-air guests for all shows and check for copyright and permission issues prior to all productions;
Coordinate and communicate production resources and facility arrangements;
Coordinate and attend production rehearsals and plan meetings and conduct necessary research for productions;
Meet departmental deadlines as per supervisor’s directive; and
All other job related duties as directed.
Qualifications:·Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications or equivalent preferred, plus 1-2 years of television production experience. In lieu of a college degree, 3-5 years of prior work experience in television production; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job;·Excellent written, oral,and interpersonal communication skills;·Excellent organizational skills; ·Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends;·Ability to work outdoors and in the sun;·Ability to lift 30 pounds;·Ability to work on several projects at once and direct the production crew in the absence of the Production Supervisor or Producer;·Ability to drive and must have a valid USVI Driver’s License;·High degree of integrity, professionalism and positive work ethics;·Ability to handle deadline pressure and work under the demands of shows, programs and events; and·Ability to lead by example and work well with others at all levels.
