Gifft Hill School, an independent PS-12th grade school located on beautiful St. John, USVI is seeking a full-time Culinary Arts Teacher/Chef who can live our mission and vision of providing an educational and sustainable approach to school nutrition and culinary instruction with a commitment to local sourcing.Candidates should possess professional experience in both education and the food service industry, and preference will be given to candidates who possess at least a bachelor’s degree or higher in a Culinary Arts degree program. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving hot lunches for up to 170 students per day. The Teacher/Chef will be provided with a part-time assistant to help with the final stages of meal preparation, serving, and clean-up associated with lunch service. In addition, s/he will be responsible for designing and teaching two weekly elective cooking classes (including but not limited to: Culinary Arts I/II, Farm to Table, and Hospitality/Catering) for students in grades 9-12, and supervising and evaluating high school and university level students pursuing credits in Culinary Arts or Hospitality specialty areas. The Teacher/Chef will be expected to plan lessons, assess and document student mastery of skills, maintain a school lunch and culinary classes webpage, and develop recipes in conjunction with the EARTH program harvest schedule.
