Job Description:

Inspects materials received by a central, hospital or other storeroom to ensure acceptable condition;
Counts and checks weights and measurements of supplies and materials received by the storeroom to see that the quantity on inspection reports;
Ensures that special storage instructions are followed for the proper preservation of materials in the storeroom;
Ensures the best possible use of available storage space in the storeroom;
Assumes responsibility for taking periodic inventories of materials and supplies;
Signs documents attesting to the inspection, receipt and issuance of materials to and from the storeroom;
Maintains various types of stock cards showing receipt and issuance of materials to and from the storeroom;
Maintains various types of stock cards showing receipt, issuance and remaining balances of stock, and notifies appropriate supervisors when certain stocks are exhausted or when established minimum quantities are on hand;
Supervises and participates in the billing of government agencies for materials obtained from a storeroom;
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills Required

Completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by courses in office practice, and two years of progressively responsible clerical experience, preferably including some work in requisitioning or receiving supplies;
