The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Additionally, the SA (1) participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure, (2) ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners, (3) assists project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology, (4) participates on projects focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life-cycle. The incumbent will also be responsible for the day to day uptime and performance of the systems as well as being accountable for the following systems: Linux, Sun, AIX, and Windows systems that support the Enterprise infrastructure; Linux, AS400, Windows and Application systems that support Telecom Management; Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.
Skills Required
Bachelors degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science;Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and Microsoft;Four to six years system administration experience;Broad hands-on knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices;In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including window server 2008,, IIS.7,. Active Directory and Exchange;Would prefer working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including security standards, virtualization,and SQL (DB2, SQL Server);Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VMI, SNMP and network administration/protocols;Hands-on experience with devices such as hubs, switches, and routers;Knowledge of applicable practices and laws relating to data privacy and protection.
