Job Summary: As an Instructional Designer for a healthcare client's corporate university team, you will create a unified learning network consistent in objectives, processes, strategies and curriculum. You will conduct primary needs assessments for the university, design curriculum based on standards aligned with corporate business goals, integrate multiple delivery methods in the learning process, and, through extensive evaluation activities, re-design the learning and development infrastructure to meet the changing demands of the growing healthcare organization. You will work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment that demands high quality, creativity, and consistency.
The position requires you to demonstrate solid technical skills in instructional design that meet the requirements of the adult learner in both classroom and distance learning settings. You must use effective learning principles and creativity so the participants become engaged in the learning process and willingly participate in all phases of training – pre-work, in-class learning activities, and post-training assessments.
Responsibilities:·Conduct needs assessments and analysis as required for specific programs across multiple enterprises so as to consolidate where possible and eliminate redundancy·Work with education department teams to design a unified curriculum path that will eliminate site-local redundancy, provide a universal standardization process, and align learning with corporate demands·Work with content experts to determine the best delivery method, identify technical limitations, determine success measures, and create roll-out and communication plans·Work with subject matter experts to quickly access, design, develop and maintain training deliverables·Ensure training is innovative, engaging, and on the cutting edge of training technology·Develop learning assessments and provide ongoing feedback and recommendations·Build relationships with internal and external partners to leverage existing information and resources·Demonstrate knowledge of, and experience using, a learning management system and its tools for, and broad, functional knowledge of and proficiency with using common software applications and instructional technology tools·Work with corporate university leadership to create electronic performance support system (EPSS) solutions to improve learner retention and job performance.
Scope and Complexity:
This position requires a great degree of flexibility working with members of the corporate university team which include, but are not limited to IC&MC and CTCA talent management and organization development teams as well as external consultants. The Instructional Designer must be able to effectively communicate with individuals familiar with design and implementation as well as those that are not. The mission of the instructional designer in collaboration with the corporate university team is to develop a unifying apparatus that leverages existing best practices and excellence to deliver consistent learning experiences for topics that cut across sites.
Essential Functions:
Perform initial and periodical needs assessments and analysis.
Design universal learning curriculum targeted to adult learners/ professionals.
Compile content into a universal training platform using multiple forms of delivery sensitive to the needs of the adult-learner.
Create a learning apparatus that is engaging and fun yet goal-directed and embedded in real life tasks.
Communicate between IC&MC corporate office and CTCA corporate offices as required to fulfill responsibilities.
Evaluate and diagnose success through reports and recommendations.
Skills Required
Skills & Experience:
Masters in Instructional Design/Educational Technology preferred.
Five to ten years experience in instructional design for a learning organization
Relocation to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands upon job offer
Healthcare enterprise experience preferred but not required
Technological Proficiencies:
Working Knowledge and Experience in the following required:·E-learning authoring tools (i.e. Force 10, Captivate, Photoshop, Snagit, etc) ·Online survey tools·HTML and Java Scripting·MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)·Outlook
Working knowledge and experience with Certpoint LMS preferred.Working knowledge of any other LMS software (i.e. Blackboard) and E-learning authoring tools will be considered. Experience in one or several other applications would be considered, such as: Articulate, Adobe Photoshop, Windows (98-2003, XP, Vista), Dreamweaver, Blackboard, Flashform, Webex, Flash, FPT, MacromediaDreamweaver, Media Form DigitalScribe EC, SureThing CD Labeler, Adobe lnDesign,Macromedia Flash, Primo DVD, Respondus, Camtasia Studio,Turnitin, WebCT, and Centra.
