Job Description:

Candidate should be able to demonstrate verifiable experience of at least 3 to 5 years in concrete formwork and shoring installation on industrial or heavy civil project and be familiar with the formwork systems used on such projects. Should be able to climb ladders and formwork, lift up to 75 pounds, have experience in use of the power tools and have all personal hand tools to perform his duties. Be able to follow directions of the foreman.

Requirements

·         Ability to maintain an image of excellence with regards to jobsite, job trailer, equipment and vehicle housekeeping and maintenance.

·         Reads and interprets blueprints and performs layout according to scale.

·         Transfers lines and grades.

·         Possesses basic carpentry skills required to build concrete structures.

·         Fabricates and erects formwork and bulkheads using wood and proprietary systems

·         Aligns and plumbs forms, installs ties, water stop and chamfer.

·         Lays out, places and ties rebar.

·         Places, finishes and cures concrete.

·         Erects scaffold and handrail systems.

·         Sets and plumbs panels for MSE wall.

·         Set sleeves, block outs, anchor bolts and other imbeds

·         Weld

·         Fabricate and install wood and steel forming systems; heavy civil construction projects.

·         Build and construct marine columns, decks, caps and structures by constructing forms for concrete. Assisting in general operation of each job.

·         Erection and wrecking of all forms

·         Setting and tying steel

·         Pouring and finishing concrete

·         Knowledge of use of hand and power tools

·         Interpreting blueprints

·         Comply with company safety policies and procedures

·         Must be able to lift 80lbs

·         Previous experience in heavy civil construction

·         Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, lift overhead, and work from heights.

Other Skills and Abilities

•Must be able to legally work in the USVI

•Must be willing to work in a drug-free environment and agree to a post offer drug test.

•Must be willing to work safely and keep OSHA recordable incidents to a minimum.

•Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively plan and organize to meet project deadlines.

Education and/or Experience

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Previous work experience as a Carpenter, 2+ years minimum

·         Must be up to date, and willing to comply with all OSHA safety standards

·         Must pass drug test, fit-for duty test and background check 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Good English communication skills and Bilingual a plus

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
