The PBIS coach will work within the district as part of a team to improve school climate through the implementation of Improving Education through Positive School Climate (IEPSC) program as outlined in the School Climate Transformation Grant (SCTG) focusing on Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). The coach will report to the IEPSC program director and provide technical assistance to the district and schools for the implementation of PBIS. This is a 5-year Federally-funded position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)

·Provides technical assistance to schools for Tier I implementation;

·Consults with teachers and principals on classroom management;

·Supports training task force and school staff in collaboration with director and PBIS training consultants;

·Provides training and assistance to new team members;

.Facilitate district-level support for the fidelity of PBIS implementation in schools;

·Collects and evaluates data at the school level to report to director, task force teams, and PBIS team regarding behavioral reports, suspension, Tier II       and Tier III data, and School-Wide Evaluation Tool (SET);

·Works with school teams to make improvements in PBIS implementation based on data;

·Administers the SET yearly;

·Attends all trainings as required and disseminates that training in the district and schools;

·Performs related work as required. 


Skills Required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

·Knowledge of principles and practices of case management techniques;

·Knowledge of federal regulations, local laws and Department policies applicable to the assigned program;

·Knowledge of effective school disciplinary practices;

·Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);

·Ability to conduct small and large group meetings and training;

·Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment in carrying out functions of the position.

·Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with all those contacted during the course of work;

·Understanding of data collection systems and data analysis;

·Understanding of effective classroom practices for instruction and classroom management.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

·Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field;

·Minimum 5 years successful teaching experience,

·Minimum of 2 years experience in implementing PBIS.
